WHAT THE LORD HAS TAUGHT ME :))
Hi, beautifuls!! Welcome to another blog and as always I’m so ready to share the Lord’s love with you today!! It is amazing how the Lord brings us through different stages of life and milestones! A milestone that God has helped me reach was completing my first year of college!! I had so many highs but lows as well and want to share my overall experience!
WALKING IN AN ANSWERED PRAYER
God answers prayers in so many ways. I currently attend a Christian University and remember before I started college, I wanted to go to this specific University. I had other universities in mind back in high school but the Lord kept bringing this specific university to my attention. This reminds me of the verse in Proverbs 16:9 that says, “A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps”. I kept asking God if I could please go to this Christian University if it is His plan for me. God answered my prayer and I got accepted to the college I eventually wanted! I am so beyond thankful. I love my school because I love how its foundation is fully on Christ. I enjoy when I have professors pray before class or when friends and I pray before we eat. I also enjoy the extra “Church” service we get every week. It is truly a blessing. God made me realize that I am walking in an answered prayer and to be grateful because there were times when I was not.
HE TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING
I have talked about this before but worrying is a big problem I have – but God is still working with me in this area. I remember when I first came to school, I knew nobody and had no friends. I was so worried that I was never going to meet anyone which is kinda impossible for a college student haha because people are everywhere. It did feel pretty lonely at first since I was away from home. I did almost everything by myself like going to the dining hall on my own or going to an event by myself – pretty scary haha. Eventually, the Lord blessed beautiful people in my life. I met some of my friends through classes and events! No matter what, you are going to meet people, even if you are introverted. I’m more introverted but I still met people! Also, I took it into consideration to surround myself with the right people. I remember praying to the Lord to bring godly friends into my life and that is another answered prayer I am walking in. He has definitely given me people who love Him and I know He will continue to bring those people.
Another thing I struggled worrying about was my purpose. In college, you are studying something for your future, so it is easy to think about your future. I never really worried about my future until I started college. At first, I was majoring in something I knew I did not want to do but rather out of obligation. I ended up switching my major to study something I knew God has given me the skills in so I can use them for the glory of His kingdom. Even though I switched my major, I still struggled with worrying about my future. God reminds me every day that He has called me for His purpose and that He will lead me where He wants me to go. Jesus tells us in His word to not worry about tomorrow, that tomorrow will worry about itself, each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34 ♡). All my worries and fears, Jesus took care of them all.
“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Colossians 3:17 ♡
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me and rescued me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4 ♡
SOMETHING ELSE I LEARNED…
Another thing I learned was time management. In college, there is so much going on – you have school work, maybe there are people you want to spend time with, there are events, and so much more. It was a lot for me but God taught me how to set boundaries and that it is okay to say no. I was able to plan effectively and make time for school, events, and my time with Jesus. I was able to do this by planning out my day, which was super helpful for me! It was all by God’s strength and not my own.
Also, I give God the glory for helping me with my classes this year and finishing the school year strong. God taught me that my schoolwork is worship to Him. When I am doing my work, I am working hard for Him, not myself. I’m in college for God, not myself. My grades and GPA do not define me. This is very important to remember because it can be easy to fall into the trap of doing your work for your glory and letting it define you. It is God that defines us and everything we do is for His glory.
This was a little bit of my experience of my first year as a college student :)). A lot happened but I am so glad I got to share the main things the Lord has taught me with you all! Remember that God has a purpose for you, if you are here and breathing you have a purpose for His kingdom! God can use you and if He has called you to do something specific, He will give you the strength to do it. I love you guys and praying over you that through this blog, you would see Jesus. Much love ♡.
